Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Storybook collects, why, and who it's shared with.

The short version

• You can read the bundled stories without an account or any sign-in.
• If you sign in, we store your email and the books, text, and images you create so they sync across your devices.
• We don't sell your data, show ads, or use third-party tracking or analytics.
• A book you share is visible only to the one email address you send it to.

What we collect

• Account email — used to send your magic sign-in link and to identify your library. No password is stored.
• Content you create — the titles, text, and scene details of books you write.
• Images you upload — covers and illustrations you add to your books.
• Reading state — your place, bookmarks, and settings. Stored on your device, and in the cloud when you're signed in.
• Recipient emails — when you share a book, the email address you choose to send it to.
• Payment status — if paid features are enabled, whether you hold a subscription or story credits. Card details are handled by Stripe; we never see or store them.

How we use it

Only to provide the service: to sign you in, store and sync your books and reading state, deliver books to the people you share with, read pages aloud, and (if enabled) process payments. We do not use your content to train models or for advertising.

Service providers

We rely on a few processors to run the app:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and image storage.
• Email delivery — sends your magic sign-in link.
• Stripe — payment processing, if paid features are enabled. Stripe handles card data under its own privacy policy.
• Google Fonts & jsDelivr (CDNs) — serve fonts and libraries; your IP address may be visible to them when the page loads.

Sharing & disclosure

We don't sell or rent your data. A book you create is private to your account until you choose to share it, and a shared book is accessible only to the recipient email you specify — there are no public links. We may disclose information if required by law.

Keeping & deleting your data

Your content stays until you delete it. Deleting a book also removes its scenes, images, and any shares of it. To delete your account and associated data, contact us at the address below and we'll remove it. You can clear locally-stored reading state any time by clearing the app's site data.

Children

Storybook isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted per-account with row-level security. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To make a request, contact us.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, note it in the app.
